La 44°Fiesta Nacional del Mar será este domingo 31 de enero a las 20 horas en playa Varese donde se presentarán en vivo Valeria Lynch, Mora Godoy, Nahuel y DJ Poncho.

Esa misma noche se elegirá la nueva Reina Nacional de Mar y sus princesas como broche de esta Fiesta Nacional que tiene mucha historia y la repasamos de esta manera.

Elegir y coronar a la Reina Nacional del Mar surgió el febrero de 1910 cuando se realizo la elección en el lujoso salón principal del Hotel Bristol donde participaron doce bellas jóvenes hijas de bañeros y pescadores como lo determinaba el reglamento. El titulo consagro como flamante soberana a una esbelta maestra de 17 años, Emilia Bonacci, quien trabajaba en una escuela local y residía en la casa de la familia La Cava. Fueron sus princesas Vicenta Carboni, Socorro García, Antonia Martínez, Basillia Martínez, Pilar Bordoni y Dolinda Carboni, y el jurado estuvo integrado por Zelmira Paz de Gainza, Otilia Alcorta Rodríguez y María Roca Demarchi. La fiesta de coronación tuvo lugar en el teatro Odeón y la reina junto a su corte de princesas fueron paseadas en una nueva nave romana , alegórica carroza de 10 metros de largo profusamente iluminada. El cortejo recorrió distintas calles de la ciudad y era flanqueado por marineros y niños con antorchas.

En 1932 ealizo una nueva elección y se coronó a Dora Lombardo de 19 años de edad. En 1952 la Dirección Municipal de Turismo comenzó a auspiciar la elección de «Miss Mar del Plata» para adquirir a partir de ese año un ritmo sostenido que sirvió para

Dar ar un tinte tradicional a este acontecimiento. En ese período se coronaron a Marta Elsa Laffite (1952/53), Elsa Haydee Lamburu (1953/54), Olga María Kesic (1954/55).

En 1967 se reconoce el titulo de «Reina Provincial del Mar» y el acto de elección y coronación se realizo casi ininterrumpidamente en el teatro Auditorium y las jóvenes elegidas iniciaron el rito de preceder los actos de inauguración de la temporada. Se sucedieron así los nombres de María Cristina Serra; Marta López; Beatriz Callejón; Alicia Leoni y Mabel Carrique. En merito a la trascendencia adquirida, que excedía ya el ámbito local, el gobierno nacional le otorga en 1972 este carácter a la fiesta. A partir de entonces la «Fiesta Nacional del Mar» que organizara la Secretaria de Turismo – hoy Ente Municipal de Turismo (EMTUR – Mar del Plata) – cobra un marcado interés en el país y se transforman en un brillante y tradicional espectáculo.

Con el correr de los años y acorde a la evolución de la fiesta, el marco y la escenografía de la misma fueron cambiando; el Club Náutico, el Teatro Auditorium, el Hotel Provincial, el Estadio Ciudad de Mar del Plata, la Plazoleta de la Armada Argentina, la explanada del Balneario «Las Toscas» y el estadio Polideportivo «Islas Malvinas». Cabe recordar algunas figuras que han participado de la fiesta: Joaquín Cortez, Cristian Castro, Carlos Ponce , Ricardo Montaner, Diego Torres, Marcela Morelo, Charly García, Westlife, Natalia Oreiro, Pimpinela, Daniela Mercury, Kevin Johansen + The Nada y Axel, entre otros.

A partir de la XXXVII Fiesta Nacional del Mar el espectáculo se desarrolló en el marco de originales comedias musicales creadas por el reconocido director Manuel González Gil. Los espectáculos, que recrearon distintas etapas de la historia marplatense contaron con bailarines, cantantes, coros y actores.

Al igual que en 1910, la nueva soberana se elige entre 12 jóvenes residentes en la ciudad de Mar del Plata, cuyas edades oscilan entre los 18 y 24 años, quienes con su belleza e inteligencia hacen de esta fiesta un espectáculo lleno de ritmo y color. La tarea de la Reina Nacional del Mar resulta compleja y variada y se enfoca en la promoción turística de la cuidad de Mar del Plata en diversos acontecimientos nacionales e internacionales.
